PhD, P.Eng, IEEE Senior Member

Ashkan has 25 years of professional consulting and R&D experiences in Power Systems’ modeling, simulation, planning and optimal control. He has served as the V.P. of Engineering at Genscape Inc. (2001 to 2002); Senior Research Associate at School of ECE, Cornell University (2003); Assistant Professor (2004 to 2008) and Associate Professor (2009 to 2014) at School of ECE, College of Engineering, University of Tehran; Senior Research Associate, ECE Dept., University of Toronto (2015); Founder and CEO, IEMS Solutions Ltd., Toronto, Canada (2015 to present); and Senior Data Scientist & Energy Market Analyst, Opus One Solutions, Toronto, Canada (2016 to 2018). Ashkan is the co-author of 150 peer-reviewed journal & conference papers. He is also the main inventor of three US Provisional patents for Smart Grids’ optimal operations & control and energy trading by means of AI, Blockchain, Model Predictive Control and Game Theory.

PE and MBA

Dr. Kaveh Aflaki, PE and MBA, has 15+ years of leadership experience within power utilities and technology vendors for utilities. He is the Technical Chair – IEEE-PES Grid Edge Technologies Conf. & Expo. 2023. He is also the Governing Board member of IEEE-PES Industry Technical Support Leadership Committee (ITSLC).

PhD in AI & Intelligent Systems

Masoud has over 9 years of professional experiences in research and development of AI and Machine Learning algorithms. He is responsible for designing the software architecture at IEMS Solutions. He is also the AI & ML team leader for the Predictive Analytics SaaS and the LG Nova V2G pilot project, EV and EVSE mobile applications’ design & development.

He has also a demonstrated history of cloud-based software development on both IBM Cloud and AWS. Masoud was with joint Concordia-Akonovia project as a Research Associate and Software Developer (2018), with Ryerson University as a Visting Research Scholar and data analyzer (2016-2017), and with the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as a Lecturer (2014-2016). Masoud was also with the Center of Excellence on Soft Computing and Intelligent Information Processing as a Social Networks Analyzer (2013-2019).

MSc in Power System

Javad has 6 years of R&D and professional experiences in power systems control & protection and optimal power flow (OPF) analysis. He is the Director of Power Systems & DERMS at I-EMS Group, responsible for the IESO Grid Innovation Project’s DERMS/OPF analysis; DER/DG optimal hourly (or sub-hourly) scheduling and communicating the setpoints to the local DER/DG controllers via OpenADR protocol.

Before joining IEMS Solutions Ltd, Javad served as Power Systems & Control Eng., Electrical Eng. Dept., University of Waterloo (May 2018-March 2020); Power Systems & Control Eng., Digital Relays Lab, School of Electrical Eng., University of Tehran (2012-2015); Distribution System Engineer, Mehriz Distribution Company (2015); Power System Engineer, Yekta Niroo Co. (2016-2018).

Ph.D. Candidate in Software Eng.

Ehsan is a software engineer with 10 years of software and 4 years of blockchain development experiences. He is the Director of Blockchain & Transactive Energy at IEMS Solutions. He has a solid skillset in designing and developing micro-services and distributed services. He is most interested in different distributed ledger technologies such as blockchain and contributed to different projects such as Cosmos, THORChain, THORSwap, Osmosis and etc. He is responsible for Blockchain based Energy Trading platforms for different projects for IEMS, including the EV-fleet management for G2V & V2G services from/to EVSE and DSO for the U-Ottawa Smart Microgrid and LG Nova V2G pilot projects.

MSc, CEM, CMVP

Amir has over 9 years of professional experiences in energy and sustainability management in Ontario, Canada. He has advanced technical and business understanding of electricity market, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and IoT total solutions. Amir also has a deep knowledge of B2B and B2C solutions in the energy management sector. Amir is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) & Certified Measurement Verification Professional (CMVP) and received the 2019 Young Energy Professional of the Year Award for Canada by International Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Amir is also the co-founder and CEO at Eaigle Corp., an AI tech company that optimizes public & workspace health, safety & operations via crowd monitoring solutions.
